Helicopter Fleet

Bristow Academy, Inc. has one of the most modern fleet of training helicopters in the world. The primary training aircraft is the Schweizer 300CB/CBi, with additional training available in the Robinson R-22 and Bell 206B JetRanger.

Certified by the FAA in August 1995, the Schweizer 300CB is the first new helicopter in over twenty years to be designed specifically for training. It is a derivative of the Schweizer/Hughes 269 series helicopter which has dominated the world of military flight training for many years.

Schweizer FleetIn 2002 the Schweizer Aircraft Corporation debuted the 300CBi model. Powered by an injected Lycoming engine the concerns relative to carburetor ice are eliminated. The 300CBi is also equipped with a start-up overspeed limiter, automatic rotor engagement, and low rotor RPM warning device system.

The new model combines the outstanding flying qualities of its predecessors with the latest technological improvements. The low operating costs of the new model make it possible for Bristow Academy to provide training in a vastly superior aircraft at rates which are competitive with other schools using older or less suitable helicopters. Bristow Academy has adopted a policy of conducting all Private Pilot training in the 300CB, as well as mountain, Commercial add-on, and CFI training.

Schweizer Fleet
By training in the Schweizer you will reduce your training costs. The inherent stability of the Schweizer aircraft makes it possible to solo students earlier and enables the student to reach the required standards with less flight time. This helicopter is not subject to Special Federal Aviation Regulation 73 (SFAR73), the rule which imposes restrictions on the R-22 as a training helicopter.

As of July 6, 2010 Bristow Academy operates:
