Bristow Academy’s Military Training Program (MTP) is a separate division of the school that provides flight training to a very high standard and in a style that replicates the world’s leading helicopter flight training academies. These courses are only available to US and foreign military personnel who meet the approval of the United States Government.
All training is conducted by highly experienced former military IP’s, many of whom have a SF background and combat flying experience. All IP’s are NVG qualified and all courses can be taught in English or Spanish. The students enjoy the benefits of a student to instructor ratio of 2:1. The schools flight training guides, as well as the daily operational procedures, are based on the training program of the US Army, Ft. Rucker, Alabama. Content of the training, as well as the style and emphasis of the school, is entirely military. Students wear the uniform of their home country and the formalities of military life are in evidence throughout the program.
IERW Standard
This program consists of 150 hours of flight training and is a close replica of the IERW program at Ft. Rucker. At Bristow Academy however the customer has the option of having the majority of the training conducted in a Schweizer 300CBi, thereby achieving an enormous saving per pilot. Advanced training is normally conducted in the Bell 206BIII JetRanger, but other aircraft types can be provided subject to certain minimum activity levels.

IERW Abbreviated
This 105-hour program provides an excellent foundation for the beginner military pilot. Upon completion of the course the pilot will be ready to return to his unit for transition and operational training.
Both IERW courses include NVG qualification and extensive mission planning.
Customized courses
Bristow Academy can provide training courses to meet the specific needs of the customer. These might include emergency procedure training, mountain flying, operational training, type transition, maintenance test pilot, or other specialist courses. Bristow Academy can provide these programs either at its home base in the United States, or in the host country.

Course pricing
Because the training model, and therefore the course structure, of the MTP is very different from Bristow Academy’s civilian training the pricing is also quite different from the standard civilian prices. Nevertheless Bristow Academy can generally train 3-4 pilots for approximately the same cost as sending 1 pilot to a US or European military flight training school.
Night Vision Goggle
Within a few years the bulk of all nighttime operations will be done with the aid of night vision goggles (NVG). The safety enhancement provided by NVG is quite dramatic. Bristow Academy provides an introductory course for pilots with no previous NVG experience. With just 10-12 hours of flight training pilots can be brought to a high level of proficiency and safety. The NVG course provided by Bristow Academy features a full ground school and includes training in all flight maneuvers and emergencies using NVG.
